Privacy Policy — Recall Tracker
Ava Research LLC · Last updated: September 28, 2026
This policy covers Recall Tracker (the "Service"), a connector that lets you track products you own, know if they're recalled, and get a heads-up before a return window closes. It applies whether you use the Service directly or through Meta's Muse.
What we store, and why
-
Account ID: an internal ID from your sign-in, used to keep your list separate from everyone else's. Sign-in is handled by Microsoft Entra External ID with a one-time code sent to your email — there is no password, and it asks for nothing but your email address. The Service itself never stores your email address.
-
Product name and brand (required): to match the item against recalls.
-
Model (optional): to make matches more precise.
-
Category and retailer (optional): shown back to you so you can recognize the item.
-
Purchase date (required): records when you bought the item.
-
Return-window end date (optional): to remind you during the last 7 days before it closes.
-
Warranty end date (optional): to remind you during the last 30 days before it ends.
-
Source label and order or receipt reference (optional): where the item details came from (for example "manual" or "gmail") and an order or receipt number, so the same purchase isn't added twice. The Service does not connect to your email, bank, or store accounts.
-
Recall matches: which recalls matched an item, when, and whether you dismissed the alert.
-
Technical logs: request type, outcome, timing, item and match counts, and a one-way hash of your account ID. Logs never contain your item details or sign-in tokens.
What we don't collect
The Service only accepts the fields above. We don't ask for or store prices, payment card or bank account numbers, government ID numbers, email contents, precise location, contacts, photos, or health information.
Permissions Muse asks for
One permission, Recall.ReadWrite: it lets Muse read and update your tracked items and alerts on your behalf, each time you ask. Searching recalls doesn't need this permission or an account.
How we use it
-
To check your tracked items against public recall data (currently the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's SaferProducts database) every day and when you ask, and to show you matching recalls and upcoming return-window or warranty dates.
-
To operate, secure, and improve the Service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who can see it
-
You, through your own account.
-
Meta's Muse, if you connect it, acting on your behalf with the permission above.
-
Service providers that host and run the Service (Microsoft Azure, East US 2 region) and handle sign-in (Microsoft Entra External ID), bound by their own security and confidentiality commitments.
-
No one else. We don't sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
How we protect it
Your tracked items are stored under your own account and are isolated from every other account. Access to the underlying systems is limited to what each part of the Service needs to do its job, and administrative access is limited to Ava Research LLC personnel who need it to operate the Service.
Data retention
-
Tracked items and recall matches: kept until you delete them or your account.
-
Deleted items: removed immediately, along with their recall history. Backup copies expire within 8 hours.
-
Technical logs: 30 days.
Delete your data or disconnect
-
Delete an item: ask Muse, for example "Stop tracking my blender."
-
Delete your account and all its data: email privacy@avaresearchllc.com and we'll process the request within a reasonable time.
-
Disconnect: remove Recall Tracker from your connectors in Muse. Disconnecting stops Muse's access but doesn't delete your list, so delete your items or email us first if you want them gone.
Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, make a reasonable effort to notify active users.
